It's Jimmy Hatlo Time Again

Jimmy Hatlo created the comic strip "They'll Do It Every Time" which first appeared February 5, 1929. It was always one of my favorite comic strips. Technically it wasn't a comic "strip" but a single "panel" daily. Prior to doing that strip Hatlo was a sports cartoonist for the San Francisco Call-Bulletin, which he continued while doing They'll Do It Every Time. These sports cartoon samples are dated 1931.

All of these cartoons seem to be about college sports, in this case primarily football.
The bear in this line-up represents the UCLA Bruins.
